To show our thanks to all adult volunteers, unit leaders, and BSA staff members, the National Jamboree and Outdoor Adventures teams are excited to announce the first Adult Adventure Weekend, planned for June 20-24, 2018, at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.

At troop meetings, service projects, council camps, the national jamboree, or High-Adventure Bases, our youth members are developing skills, confidence, and character in large part to the efforts of you, the BSA’s adult volunteers and staff. So now it’s YOUR turn to ride the zip lines, climb rocks, ride bikes, fish, tour, eat great food, hang out with friends, and experience adventures that are normally reserved for youth, both at the Summit Bechtel Reserve and the adjoining New River Gorge!

But the adventure won’t end there: Evening programs will focus on the shared goal of providing more outdoor adventures for more Scouts in the future. At the end of the week, you will return home filled with energy and new ideas that will help your council plan adventures that increase membership, improve retention, and create new camping opportunities.

No matter your BSA role — region, area, or council employee or volunteer;  board member; unit leader; commissioner;committee member; or national jamboree staffer — if you are preparing youth for future Scouting Adventures, this event is for YOU!

For more information on this exciting new event at one of the BSA’s premier outdoor adventure locations, visit the Summit Bechtel Reserve’s official Adult Adventure Weekend site, or check out Scouting magazine’s “Bryan on Scouting” blog.

Join the adventure in June!
