Is there a Cub Scout in your pack who is counting down the days until the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse? Does he know more about astronomy than you? Or maybe he just loves outer space and can’t wait to learn more about it?

We’ll be highlighting space savvy Cub Scouts and giving them an opportunity to help share the significance of Aug. 21 with others interested in the astronomical phenomenon.

What’s Happening August 21?

On Aug. 21, the sun will appear to pass behind the moon, causing the sky to darken and giving kids across North America a chance to view a total solar eclipse (please use an eclipse viewer, like the one shown in the video below, to protect your eyes from the sun’s intensity).

Scouts across the nation are preparing to see the eclipse from watch parties in the path with the best view (called the “path of totality”). Other Scouts will catch partial views of the eclipse from their backyards or school’s playgrounds.
